A showpiece new office building planned for Shawfield’s thriving business hub has received £4 million from the Scottish Government.
Last Thursday, Clyde Gateway welcomed news that it is to receive Regional Capital Grant Funding (RCGF) over the next two years towards the construction of Red Tree Central.
The £13m four-storey building is among 25 development projects to receive a total of £25m in regeneration funding in support of their work in tackling inequalities and delivering inclusive growth in the most deprived and remote communities.
These are anticipated to support or create 1700 jobs and refurbish and bring 38 buildings back into use, as well as creating a further 68,000sqm of business space.
Clyde Gateway is Scotland’s largest and most ambitious regeneration programme, having developed a wide range of commercial, office and industrial opportunities, including the award-winning Red Tree Magenta, also located at Shawfield.
Chief executive Ian
Manson told the Reformer: “Red Tree Central will be built next to the highly successful Red Tree Magenta, a property that was 100 per cent let within weeks of its completion and which last week was named as the regeneration project of the year at the 2020 Scottish property awards.
“Red Tree Central will be an even more ambitious building, with an overall price tag of £13m and enough space for 340 staff.
“We will be using a combination of our own funds and borrowings to have the building up and ready for occupation towards the end of 2022.”
