Win a Family Pass
I may be only 11, but I lived every kid’s dream last week when I got behind the wheel of a brand new Vauxhall Corsa for my first driving lesson.
A birthday gift from my grandparents, my lesson in the dualcontrolled car was at the Braeheadbased Young Driver driving school, which offers tuition for five to 17-yearolds who want to get a taste of life in the fast lane.
Split over two levels, it’s the perfect space for youngsters like me who are starting their training as well as for more experienced drivers.
The road system includes junctions, and participants can also get first-hand experience of driving up and over ramps.
I was a little nervous at first but my instructor Alistair put me at ease.
I completed Level 1, which was pre-drive checks and adjustments, precautions, moving away, stopping and steering.
An in-car camera recorded my lesson and I can now show my friends and family. I can’t wait to get behind the wheel again.

I’m pleased to say I am now a member of Castlemilk Explorers – a group in which seven to 12-year-olds can learn about nature in a fun and friendly environment.
The only Wildlife Watch group in Glasgow, it’s led by community woodland officer Stuart Whittaker and involves fun activities, from mini beast hunting to natural crafts.
Meeting once a month at Castlemilk Stables, my first session is on Saturday, when I’ll learn about mammals and how we track them.
See the programme at scottishwildlifetrust.org.uk/watchgroup/castlemilk-explorers/
Staying with Castlemilk, I went along to Castlemilk Park for the annual, free Love Your Woodlands event.
We transformed a tree with decorations, created an outdoor art piece and made bird feeders.
The events programme will be published early next month on their facebook page.
My friend Liam Robinson and his wee sister Ellie joined me recently at Flip Out. It has a huge main arena with a battle beam section over a foam pit.
For young kids, there’s a soft play area, and for those over 1.4m tall, check out their parkour area.
As well as a game of basketball, Liam and I were proud of our successful attempts at front flips on the trampolines.
Flip Out also have an inflatable theme park section and Ellie loved the helter skelter.

My mum and I have used the ScotRail Kids Visit Free entry deal for a few attractions over the years like Loch Lomond Sealife and Camera Obscura – which has been a big saving, especially during the winter months when the weather is rubbish.
All you need is a valid Kids for a Quid train ticket which you can get at the station or on board.
Take this to the attraction you’re visiting, and that’s it – easy. (Kids must be accompanied by a ticketbuying adult).
You can use this great deal on loads of attractions including a tour of Hampden Stadium, the Wallace Monument, Edinburgh Zoo, Deep Sea World, the Edinburgh Dungeon, and sledging at Snow Zone, Braehead.
