Parent event is postponed

-

An event aimed at bringing together parents from different schools in the Rutherglen and Cambuslang area has been axed due to the coronavirus outbreak.

Cathkin, Stonelaw and Trinity (CST) High School Parent Councils were joining forces to create CST Parent Partnership – the first of its kind in South Lanarkshire.

It was also set to include parents from both

Rutherglen High School and Carmyle.

However their meeting scheduled for today at Rutherglen Town Hall (Wednesday) has now been postponed.

Organiser Sharon Collie said:“In view of the rapidly changing public health situation and concerns raised by parents/carers it has been decided to postpone the Cathkin, Stonelaw and Trinity Parent Partnership Event on

March 18.

“This event will be rescheduled when circumstances allow.

“In the meantime we are exploring alternative ways of interacting with parents/ carers without face to face meetings.”

The aim for the partnership was to offer a parent-friendly, transparent and supportive place for parents and carers to ask questions and seek support and advice while being able share in a blether about a range of subjects on-going in education and relevant to the local community.

It was hoped that working together would remove and reduce barriers to parental engagement and involvement locally, and therefore link up with South Lanarkshire Council’s recently-launched parent engagement and involvement strategy for the region.
