Spiders start modern apprentice scheme
Queen’s Park have revealed goalkeeper Jacques Heraghty has become the club’s first ever player to sign a Modern Apprenticeship professional contract.
The 17-year-old has already broken into the first team squad, having made his debut in a Challenge Cup tie against Celtic in August 2019.
Jacques has also represented
Scotland Schools for the last two years.
He has signed a two-year deal as part of the new scheme.
Spiders under-18’s Coach Charley King told the club website:“Jacques made a big impression when he first joined us two years ago and was quickly involved with the first team squad.
“He is a confident goalkeeper, communicates well and has a hunger to train and develop his skills.”
Patrick Hart, Director of Skills for Scotland, added:“The Modern Apprenticeship programme is a milestone event for Queen’s Park FC.
“Skills for Scotland is proud to be working in partnership with the club as it offers professional apprenticeships for the first time in its distinguished history.”
•Queen’s Park and the other League Two clubs have voted to approve a 27-game fixture calendar for the 2020/21 season. The decision means that each of the SPFL’s four divisions now has a proposed starting date to work towards, with the Premiership due to begin on August 1 and the other trio to start from October 17.
