Cambuslang Rangers have agreed to ground share with Bellshill for the first half of their debut West of Scotland League campaign after a blaze destroyed their ground.

The Conference A outfit have been forced to look for a temporary home following a devastating fire which ripped through Rockburn Park in April.

However, an agreement has been struck to make the switch across Lanarkshire to Conference B side The Lang for the first half of the season while repair work takes place in Bellshill’s main building and clubhouse.

Bellshill secretary Brian Closs confirmed the move from North to South Lanarkshire.

He was delighted with the support from the Rangers committee during their time in need.

He said: “We hope that our repair work will be able to start in mid-July but are planning with the season starting in October in mind.

“We’re in a position now where it is just a waiting game for us but we have to start thinking ahead.

“Cambuslang Rangers have been tremendously helpful and have agreed for us to ground share with them for the first half of the season.

“We feel helpless just now as we are waiting for a lot of the work to start at the ground, but it has been great to have the support and generosity of Cambuslang.

“The community support has been really important for us following the fire. It has helped us move forward, and we have had really positive backing from clubs near us.

“We appreciate Cambuslang continuing that for the new season whenever we get started.”
