Clyde boss Danny Lennon has hailed the impact of Celtic loan kid Ewan Otoo, and says he has shown a terrific attitude since arriving at the League One club.

The 18-year-old centre-back is highly rated at Celtic and is on loan at Clyde until the end of this season.

Lennon says kids like Otoo, Rangers pair Zac Butterworth and Kane Ritchie-Hosler and St Mirren’s Lewis Jamieson will get a chance to shine during a hectic schedule that sees them with an incredible six fixtures between now and April 10.

Clyde drew 2-2 at Montrose on Saturday, travelled to Peterhead as the Reformer went to press last night and are away to East Fife tomorrow (Thursday).

A Scottish Cup tie away to Ayr awaits on Saturday and the crazy schedule continues next week with Cove Rangers at Broadwood on Tuesday and Forfar visiting on Thursday, before travelling to Falkirk on April 10.

Lennon has been pleased with Otoo, who has played every game since joining on March 23, and he said:“Ewan is a young boy with fantastic energy, he’s trying to make his mark in the game at that level, so he will certainly get the experience of that.

“Like anything, I believe when you’re given that access, the more that you go and play at that level, the quicker these boys learn.

“What he does have is a terrific attitude, for a very young boy he’s years ahead in terms of maturation, and is a very strong, powerful boy.

“He’ll come in there and certainly aid us in an area that has been a bit of an Achilles heel for us.

“This week is coming into a very hectic schedule and we are starting to get stretched a bit.

“With the games coming as fast as they are, this is where perhaps the opportunity will arise for these youngsters.”

Lennon admits he’s annoyed with not just how packed a schedule Clyde have, especially with the distances they’re being asked to travel, with the players often having to get up for work the next morning.

He said:“From those games only two of them are at home, most are away on the road, so it’s a challenge, but it’s one that we will welcome.

“The key thing is that as much as the games are demanding, you’re looking for the recovery process to get underway right away after the game.

“Perhaps on the coach we’ve got the players to a degree and they’re recovering, getting their fluid and food intake, but they’re still not getting back until the early hours of the morning on some of these trips, and then up for their own jobs in the morning.”
