Catriona was‘ very committed and dedicated’
Tributes have been paid to a young Cambuslang doctor after a body was found in the search for her.
Catriona Gaskell was described as “popular”, “respected” and “dedicated”.
NHS Lanarkshire led the tributes to the 29-year-old, who was reported missing from her home in Fallow Grove, Newton, on Saturday, August 14.
Dr Gaskell was seen on CCTV leaving her house just before 8pm and later walking along Red Deer Road toward the wooded area nearby.
She never returned home, sparking concerns for her wellbeing.
Police confirmed a body had been discovered in woods within the Newton Farm housing estate.
The family of Dr Gaskell, known as Cat, have been informed.
Officers say there are no suspicious circumstances surrounding the death.
NHS Lanarkshire medical director, Dr Linda Findlay, paid tribute to her colleague this week and sent condolences to the family.
She said: “We are all devastated to hear about our colleague Cat.
“She was a very popular member of our team and well-respected by all her colleagues and patients. She was a very committed and dedicated young doctor who made a very positive contribution to the practice and will be sorely missed.
“Our sincere condolences are with her family and friends at this very difficult time.”

Officers confirmed a body was discovered in a wooded area in Newton , Cambuslang, on Monday, close to where Dr Catriona Gaskell, left, who worked as a registrar at the Mavor Medical Practice in East Kilbride, was last seen.
The 29-year-old was reported missing over the weekend after leaving her home in Fallow Grove at around 8pm on Saturday.
She was later seen on CCTV walking towards Red Deer Road and into the wooded area nearby, sparking concerns for her wellbeing.
Police say there are no suspicious circumstances surrounding the death.
The family of Catriona have been made aware.
NHS Lanarkshire confirmed the doctor, known as Cat by friends and family, worked with the health board and sent their condolences to her loved ones.
Medical director, Dr Linda Findlay, said: “We are all devastated to hear about our colleague Cat.

“She was a very committed and dedicated young doctor who made a very positive contribution to the practice and will be sorely missed.
“Our sincere condolences are with her family and friends at this very difficult time.”
Cat’s frantic partner Robbie Thomson publicly posted an appeal for help in tracing her on social media at the weekend – a post that was shared hundreds of times by the local and online community.
The charity SEVA Scotland, who Cat worked closely with over the years, also asked for help in finding the much loved doctor.
On learning of her death they posted: “Rest in peace Catriona.”
Posting a picture of Cat, one friend said: “My wifey for lifey. Will love and miss you always Cat Gaskell.”
Another added: “Horrible news about Cat who I knew well from school. Thoughts with Robbie, family and all of her friends.”
And St Bride’s RC Church, on Greenlees Road, Cambuslang, asked people to keep her family in their prayers.
They wrote online: “Such sad news.
“Please pray for her, her family and those who grieve her passing.”
