Severe flooding forces Flip Out to shut doors
A Rutherglen trampoline centre was forced to close its doors last week after severe flooding.
Flip Out, on Dalmarnock Road, suffered from last Monday’s torrential downpour, with the building’s roof seeing water cascade inside, forcing youngsters playing there to be evacuated.
On their Facebook page the centre, popular with local kids, posted: “It appears the gutter unfortunately couldn’t handle the volume of water today, but we’re getting it resolved.
“Sorry to everyone affected- we will be in touch with you all as quickly as possible.
“We are working away so that we can reopen asap. thanks for your patience and understanding everyone.”
George Gallacher, general manager at Flip Out Glasgow said: “Unfortunately we had to close Flip Out due to flash flooding in Rutherglen.
“At 10.30am we experienced extremely large volumes of water, which has resulted in the trampoline park not being fit for customers. We safely escorted the customers out the building, keeping their safety as our number one priority, and will be contacting them all to reschedule their visit when we are back open.
“We appreciate everyone’s patience here and support, and our thoughts go out to all of the other businesses in Rutherglen who are unfortunately in the same position as us.”
One woman, who was there with her children, said: “We hadn’t been there long when the water started flooding down like crazy.
“It was going all over the TV’s and computers in the reception, which was quite scary, and there was sirens ringing and the lights going off.
“The staff were great though.” Torrential downpours across Lanarkshire and Glasgow caused chaos on Monday, with numerous trains cancelled as a result, and several roads closed.
The trampoline park reopened in April, after months shut due to the coronavirus.
