QUEEN’S PARK .................................... 3 DUMBARTON ...................................... 0

Louis Longridge was delighted with his man of the match performance as Queen’s Park stayed top of League One.

The Spiders cruised past Dumbarton 3-0 with a dominant performance to continue their impressive start to the season.

Former Hamilton Accies man Longridge grabbed Queen’s Park’s second after Simon Murray opened the scoring and Liam Brown added gloss to the scoreline at the death.

Longridge believes QP are adapting well to life in League One and he was thrilled to get on the scoresheet.

“I thought it was a good performance all round,”Longridge confessed.“It was 3-0 and we probably should have scored more.

“It’s vital in any game to get the first goal. Simon pulled off and had a great finish which got us on our way in the match.

“We controlled the game from there and got the second and third. It could have been more on the day.

“I’ve been in the right positions during the last few games but I’ve been unfortunate not to get the goals but I’m looking to score more.”

Queen’s Park have kept consecutive clean sheets in the league and Longridge knows it’s imperative to have strong foundations.

Laurie Ellis’side possess fantastic attacking talents and the Spiders have great strength in depth throughout the squad.

The 30-year-old added:“The manager is emphasising that clean sheets are important and we know that we have enough of an attacking threat to get goals.

“We’ve had a lot of chances in previous games and not taken them but we scored three goals.

“We are looking forward to our next game. There is competition all over the park and there were changes for this game.

“Everyone did a job for the team and there will be boys, champing at the bit to get a start for the next game.”

On Saturday the Spiders travel to Alloa Athletic. Kick-off is 3pm.
