Allsetfor weekend family festival fundraiser
The organisers of new notfor-profit organisation Self Care and Mental Health for Kids and Adolescents have thanked a Rutherglen football coach for helping them stage their first major fundraiser.
Thanks to Tony McDonald, who coaches Glencairn 2006, the group is able to hold this weekend’s family festival on Burnhill Football Park on Toryglen Road.
The event, which will be held at the park from noon till 4pm on Saturday, August 28, aims to raise cash for a safe place for kids and teenagers to go to learn coping mechanisms.
The organisation’s founder, Alicia Wilson – who is currently looking at locations across Lanarkshire and the west of Scotland for suitable, safe accommodation and a permanent base – also hopes this and future fundraisers will generate cash for a bus to take children and young people on outings to help them escape chaotic environments.
Among the fun at the Rutherglen family festival will be a kids’ entertainer, games for adults and children, festival hair and make-up and various stalls.
There will also be an inflatable party pod and inflatable party dome, DJs and MCs, two bouncy castles and raffles.
Anyone who’s feeling peckish can tuck in to all kinds of treats from burgers, to ice cream, candy floss and slushes.
Featuring special guests Gonzo and Cally, the event will be hosted by Dee Jay B.
“It will be a great day out for all the family, and you’ll be helping a great cause, too,” said Alicia.
Tickets cost £4 for kids and £8 for adults. Wristbands are available through the Self Care and Mental Health for Kids and Adolescents Facebook page or at the entrance on the day.
Thanks go to Tony McDonald, Party Pod Scotland, Dash Events, GR Tucker and sponsors We Love Old Skool and DNZ.
