An amateur dramatics group will return to the stage this weekend after missing over a year of performances due to the coronavirus pandemic.

Rutherglen Rep are slated to perform at the Town Hall this Friday and Saturday, with two one acts plays lined up – Numbered With The Dead and Funeral For A Fiend.

And Rep players are understandably raring to go after so long on the sidelines.

The group’s Sylvia Millar said: “We are all very excited to be back after so long away.

“I think everyone connected to the Rep, whether they’re taking part in this show or not, is just glad that there are shows happening again and that we are getting back to normal a bit.

“It’s been tough over the past 18 months – a lot of the rehearsals and planning were having to be done by Zoom calls, and the two plays were chosen because they have quite small casts so it would fit in with any restrictions.

“Getting back to the theatre is something that is so enjoyable though, and we hope that many locals will be keen to join us.”

Tickets are on sale for both nights, priced at £8 or£7 for concessions.

The show will start at 7.30pm each night.

Tickets can be purchased at www.sllcboxoffice.co.uk/ or from the town hall’s box office in person.

Numbered With The Dead is a black comedy written by Isabella C Rae.

In Funeral for a Fiend, written by Gerry McCartan, a group of mourners gather in a bar at the end of their friend Greta’s funeral, eager to know what is in her will.
