South Lanarkshire charity needs helpers

- SHIRLEY BARTYNEK

The South Lanarkshire branch of the National Autistic Society are on the lookout for volunteers.

The charity has two vacancies to fill – a fundraising volunteer and branch secretary – and both are home based.

The role of fundraising officer is important to the running of the branch as they help organise fundraising events for the charity.

A spokesperson for the charity said: “Due to the pandemic our face-to-face fundraising events have been put on hold so we are looking for someone who has innovative ideas for online events.

“The role will require around two or three hours of work per week, or more if you can commit. When regulations allow us to resume normal fundraising service there will be more jobs for the ideal candidate.”

The branch secretary role will act as a coordinator and communicator for the branch, taking on many tasks such as taking notes at committee meetings, booking speakers for meetings, booking meeting rooms, and many more.

For more information on any of these roles log onto the National Autistic Society website and look under the South Lanarkshire volunteer section.

The National Autistic Society is the UK’s leading charity for people on the autism spectrum and their families.

Since 1962, the charity have been providing support, guidance and advice, as well as campaigning for improved rights, services and opportunities to help create a society that works for autistic people.
