Crisis of confidence for Clyde after defeat

-

Clyde manager Danny Lennon admits the Bully Wee are in a problematic situation after another painful League One defeat – and has questioned where his players’confidence has gone.

Cove Rangers are the latest side to put Lennon’s men to the sword, sweeping past them 3-0.

Connor Scully netted the opener in the 45th minute in a blow before half-time and Jamie Masson and Robbie Leitch ended proceedings.

Clyde have won one game in their last six and lost 5-0 at home to

Montrose prior to the Cove defeat.

Lennon said:“I thought first half we got out the traps okay and were denied a stonewall penalty in the first minute of the game. The referee failed to give it. We competed well in the first half against a very good side.

“We concede the first goal right before half-time which is another soft one to lose. It was a major blow. I felt we had enough in the first half to come back out in the second half and get something.

“But within three or four minutes of the second half, we concede again

“We aren’t doing basics well enough in terms of matching our runners. The second goal knocked the stuffing out of us.

“We huffed and puffed and made a few changes. We put different dynamics onto it, but by that point, Cove had started to dictate the tempo of the game and controlled possession.

“We worked hard to win it back and we worked hard off the ball. But too many times did we give away possession far too cheaply.”

The Broadwood side now meet Falkirk this weekend and head into the crucial fixture in League One’s relegation play-off place.

Falkirk themselves are bordering on a crisis, the full-time club fifth in the league and with one win since beating Clyde in August.

Lennon added :“I’m scratching my head as there’s eight or nine players there who I’m wondering where their form has went. Where is their confidence?

“We’re at a low. We are in need of a major, major lift. We try and dust ourselves down. Where is our bit of luck going to come from?”
