Staff step into spotlight

Big-hearted staff at Fosters Funeral Directors put on their walking shoes recently to raise thousands for charity.

Staff from the firm raised over £2700 for Alzheimer Scotland, helping the charity to provide its much-needed services for people living with dementia and their families.

The funds were raised when a team from Fosters – who have funeral homes all over Lanarkshire – took part in the annual Memory Walk Scotland, enjoying a bracing walk around the loch at Strathclyde Country Park.

Managing director Nick McLaughlin said“We really value the work that Alzheimer Scotland do for individuals and families across Scotland.

“We wanted to demonstrate our support for them as they have facilitated‘dementia friends’sessions for all of our staff over recent years.”

He added:“For us as a team, it was also great fun to meet up and walk together.

“Many of us have personal experience of a family member living with dementia and it was a chance to talk, listen and

share memories. In total we raised £2765 and hope to continue to support the charity in the future.”

Gail Dolan from Alzheimer Scotland said the charity is“delighted”to be working in partnership with the company.

She added:“Scotland’s Memory Walk is a fantastic opportunity for companies to engage with their people, walking collectively together in memory of a loved one, family or friend.

“We are blown away by

the support, commitment and generosity of Fosters raising an outstanding amount.

“This will allow us to continue to provide our support and service across Scotland to people living with dementia, their families and carers.”

Amy Young from the firm’s Rutherglen store handed over a cheque for £2765 to Gail, having personally raised £675 of the total and who walked in memory of her grandfather.
