Lonehead rock up with gig and new single
Alt-rockers Lonehead are leaping back into action with a new single.
The group – who include Cambuslang lads Jim Keilt on guitar and Mark Brown on drums – have released Jump Back this week on new Glasgow label iOcco Music.
The trio, who are completed by singer/bassist Martin Jenkins, are eager to get back onstage too, with a gig lined up at East Kilbride’s Village Inn on November 26 alongside another Lanarkshire group, Gilhoolys.
Singer Martin believes the new track came from a creative hot streak for the band, and serves as a reaction to the coronavirus chaos of the past 18 months.
He said :“It’s an antidote to the dystopian film script we’ve all experienced over the last 18 months.
“Jump Back is a look at our addiction to devices, screens and social media domination of the internet”.
The lyrics were written in the depths of lockdown life and paint a picture of a protagonist struggling with his compulsion to click and scroll on the nearest screen.
The track contains Lonehead’s trademark blend of strong melody, edgy alt rock and quirky lyrics, with a dash of 1960s pop sprinkled throughout it as well.
Until lockdown, Lonehead were permanent fixtures on Scotland’s live music scene.
Like many artists the restrictions came as a blow, but the band put their energies into recording new music instead, with Jump Back following on from the release of EP Too Long Gone earlier this year.
Influences on the group include Cream, The Who and fellow Scots Biffy Clyro.
Jim has previously played with a number of well known UK music acts during his career to date including The Look, John Otway and Middle Of The Road, while Mark previously occupied the drumstool with guitar popsters the Cosmic Rough Riders.
Jump Back is available to download and stream now and more information on the band can be found at www. lonehead.com
