Builders sign off on new housing development
A new affordable housing development has been completed in Cambuslang.
The Bridge Street site is now home to 86 new houses built by the JR Group.
The development, which has been designed to provide vital rental properties, is made up of 10 apartment blocks featuring oneand two-bedroom flats, as well as a selection of two and three-bedroom terraced and semi-detached houses, including eight wheelchair exemplar properties.
With easy commuting in mind, 125 parking spaces have been created, whilst a children’s play park has also been constructed with the aim of bringing an inclusive, community feel to the area.
Delivery of the project demonstrates a huge milestone, as the substantial project took place in the midst of the pandemic, which saw the team overcome unexpected challenges to finalise the muchneeded development.
Andrew Dallas of the JR Group told the Reformer: “We are excited for the residents of Bridge Street to move in and create new memories now that the development has been completed.
“Our team has done a fantastic job throughout the last 18 months, handling everything professionally and quickly without affecting the integrity of the project.
“We’re thrilled to have again worked alongside Link Group to facilitate more high quality, affordable housing within Cambuslang and we look forward to continuing to work together in future.”
Colin Culross, from Link Group, added: “Working with our partners, we overcame the challenges of Covid-19 restrictions to complete this development and are delighted to see the difference these modern, affordable homes are already making to people’s lives.”
Bridge Street builds on Link’s ambitious plan to deliver 3381 affordable, high-quality homes over the next five years.
The JR Group employs around 200 staff and was founded in Govan in 1995.
It started as a scaffolding business and is now one of the largest building and construction firms in Scotland.
