Clyde manager Danny Lennon says the Bully Wee fans deserved their 1-0 away victory at Alloa Athletic.

Ally Love’s goal in the second half sealed an important three points over Barry Ferguson’s men, the second time Lennon’s men have won away from home this term.

It means they were able to extend their unbeaten League One run to five games and move seven points clear of basement side East Fife, while sitting two points above Dumbarton in the relegation play-off spot.

Lennon said:“Any three points on the road is very welcome. Alloa is a difficult place to go to. They are a team who have been punching well above their weight for many years in the Championship.

“Neil Parry made a crucial save before Ally got the goal and that gave us something to hold on to. I am pleased as punch for the players, staff and directors.

“It’s good to see that with our efforts, we’ve managed to climb one or two places. Most importantly, I am pleased for the fans. We know we’re in a time where money is at a push at the moment. But they were there to back us and get us over that finishing line.”

Clyde now host Airdrie on Saturday, but the Diamonds’match with Queen’s Park last week was called off due to Covid.

Airdrie are confident though of the match at Broadwood being on. Airdrie boss Ian Murray said:“We expect to play football this Saturday, but we expected to play football last Saturday too. Things can change so quickly right now.”
