A community group is fully booked – as it has landed funding to take part in Scotland’s Year of Stories for 2022.

The Healthy ‘n’ Happy Community Development Trust, which runs the Camglen Book Club for bookworms in Rutherglen and Cambuslang, has secured the cash and now aims to realise ambitious plans in the coming months.

The Year of Stories is a celebration of tales inspired by, written, or created in Scotland, with a whole host of events set to be held across the country, showcasing the nation’s rich storytelling and literary heritage.

Brendan Rooney, executive director for Healthy ‘n’ Happy, told the Reformer: “We’ll be running an exciting and vibrant programme starting in July in CamGlen called Celebrating Scottish Stories.

“This will include book club events, author visits and storytelling sessions. These events will be supported by the Year of Stories 2022 Community Stories Fund.

“This fund is being delivered in partnership between VisitScotland and Museums Galleries Scotland with support from National Lottery Heritage Fund, thanks to National Lottery players.”

Marie Christie, head of development at VisitScotland added: “We are delighted to be supporting Healthy ‘n’ Happy through the Year of Stories 2022 Community Stories Fund. Events play an important role in our communities, as they sustain livelihoods and help to celebrate and promote our unique places, spaces and stories”
