Scootering

Centre spread

Hi Dan, I picked up a copy of the magazine recently. I am in Queensland, Australia, and the physical copy seems to only be available at one particular newsagent outlet and it’s usually a couple of months behind. Anyway I was interested in the Welcome article regarding print and online versions. Both have a place in my view. One of the points was what sort of content would encourage readers to pick up a print version. My suggestion would be to bring back the poster. The edition with the orange Rally 180 lowrider was a great example. I am not big into the themed scooters and when I saw this bike and the other featured powder blue ride in the same edition I was disappointed that the main photos were split down the middle by the magazine fold. I thought, here is an opportunity, why not have a double sided poster or two posters of those two impressive rides? I certainly would put them on my garage wall above my GTS 300 Super Sport. I realise a fold out poster may be cost prohibitive but even if it were just being able to detach the folded out centre-page might be an option. Thoughts? Lucas Hurley – TC Scooter Cult

Hi Lucas, Thanks for the letter. Yes, I certainly did love those old school centre spreads which I used to decorate my garage wall with also. The magazine I got mine from was a little more ‘racy’ than Scootering, I’m sure you understand. Anyway, Scootering magazine switched from being saddle stitched (stapled) to being ‘perfect bound’ a few years ago, and unfortunately this binding process doesn’t lend itself to centre spreads. I have however been looking into the ‘fold out’ options, as well as a yearly wall planner on thicker stock at a larger size than before, so that readers get something of better value. So ‘watch this space’ as they say, we hope to have some posters, calendars and wall planners coming soon. Dan
