J AMES CAMPEN MEMORIAL L AP

-

BSSO riders and road riders gathered at Cadwell to pay tribute to ex BSSO Champion James Campen who passed away in September aged just 48.

Charlie Edmonds rode James’ Group 4 race scooter to head the parade behind James’ own van. Joe Ravenscroft had restored James’ track motorcycle in the previous fortnight and painted in to fully match the #53 Lambretta. The current Scomadi was ridden by Damon Tunnicliffe. Taking part were team mates from the last few years including Tony O’Brien, Tony Rudd and John Woods. The racers were joined by many friends from the road in a large parade of scooters to pay respect to James Campen.

As the parade came around spectators in the grandstand stood and applause broke out in touching scenes. A fitting tribute to a champion. RIP James Campen #53
