Manchester & Salford Ride of Remembrance

-

This is the fourth Ride of Remembrance with each one getting bigger. At the meeting point the pavements and road were totally filled with scooters and people. The ride then set off into central Manchester with Deansgate coming to a standstill from all the scooters. More than 400 scooters turned up from across the north-west, some having travelled from as far away as Stoke, Burnley, Bradford and Shrewsbury!

As soon as the service finished it was engines kick-started and the smell of two-stroke was everywhere, Greater Manchester Police kept Albert Square closed to allow the scooters to ride through to the cenotaph, the crowds waved, cheered and applauded the scooterists. The procession stopped at the cenotaph, to observe the two minutes’ silence, the last post played and brought Manchester to a standstill. Reveille then played and the ride set off again to Salford war memorial. The ride headed for the venue, travelling in convoy through Manchester city centre.

Once everyone had arrived the work started to collect funds for the chosen charity which was homeless veterans. The people were entertained by two great acts and sets by Carl Morris and the 261 All-Stars, who blew away the audience with a great set. Club DJ Bazzy Baz was spinning the vinyl with some great northern soul. Custom show results were announced and trophies handed out. Everyone dug deep and with the help of Scootermoda, Mental Engineering, Monster Forge and Mike Phoenix just over £1335 was raised. North & Central Manchester SC would like to thank the venue host Sean Brett from the Old Nags Head and the scooter community for supporting once again this event.
