Shock horror! Free Scootering calendar had Lambrettas in it...

-

Sir, as an avid reader of and subscriber to Scootering magazine, I have always felt that you have displayed a bias towards the Innocenti produced machines. My suspicions were confirmed with the publication of your free calendar, which could justifiably have been called, ‘The Lambretta Calendar 2018’. Please wake up to the 21st century reality. A visit to any rally will reveal that Lambretta owners are now definitely in the minority. Please cater c for the owners of all marques. Paul Nicholls Staffordshire Moorlands Scooter Club. Hi Paul, Thanks for the letter, but please rest assured, there is no intended bias in the editorial between Vespa and Lambretta… I own both, as do most writers for the mag, m but there’s more to this than meets the eye. There are 12 editions produced each year, some editions have more Vespas in one month, the next has more Lambrettas. Try not to judge the whole year based on just one edition. The second thing I should comment on, is the fact that the calendar is a free gift, and so the production costs are covered by a sponsor… who in this case was Casa Lambretta. They provided a fine image and text bank for the product, but a free gift is not a reflection of the magazine’s editorial content. Hopefully, VE, SIP or one of the other companies well known for their Vespa based endeavours will sponsor the calendar next year, thus restoring balance to the universe. In the meantime, check out our VWD guide, the six-page 100mph P-range article, the seven-page Vespa tour of Croatia, the Retrospective PK125 Vespa feature scooter, and the DNCC ‘Pure Sex and Soul’ nostalgia Vespa feature in this edition alone. I’m sure you will enjoy the upcoming free Vespa Tech supplement too. Regards Dan
