Scootering

A green approach

‘Goodbye, Nothing to Say’ PX200

‘Goodbye, Nothing to Say’ also started life as a Vespa PX200 and it’s received some fantastic modifications and upgrades. The scooter was previously called ‘Brown Sugar’ but as part of the overhaul process Jens decided that the scooter would re-emerge as ‘Goodbye, Nothing to Say’. Again, Jens’ passion for 80s styling came through and with his love of custom cut-downs still clear on his agenda Jens decided it was another opportunity to blend the two interpretations.

No time to waste

Jens didn’t hang about with this project, his mind was focused, he knew what he wanted to achieve and he knew how he was going to achieve it. The whole build was completed by Jens in three months. In that time, Jens completed the full bodywork cut-down; to support the sports-look petrol tank he added and welded in a crossbar, and just for good measure he personally fabricated the twisted forks. In the meantime, while all this was going on Jens commissioned Pete Robinson to complete the engraving work and again he entrusted Vorwerk Paintings to deal with the paint.

Power delivery

Jens’ choice with the engine set-up was driven by his desire to look for something, which would deliver; as he describes in this case, ‘an old skool, great touring outcome’. To achieve the performance outcomes he was looking for, Jens chose a blend of features, which was designed to enhance the reliability of the scooter and reduce the risk of breakdowns. The set-up he eventually decided upon was a 210 Malossi kit, 60mil crank, 30mil Dellorto carb, and a Mikeck exhaust system, all of which was supported by porting work he completed himself (like he did on Jessica’s scooter). Jens explained that the scooter runs comfortably at 120km/h (approximately 75mph), it delivers 22hp and he describes its performance as ‘totally reliable’.

While the scooter is complete on the engineering and mechanical side of things, Jens explained that on the paintwork side of things he is currently considering adding some airbrush artwork.
