Name: Vincent Lunn Job: Retail butcher. Scooter club & town: Solo rider nowadays but lifetime member ISCA Scooter Club. How and when did you first become interested in scooters: 1981 when listening to The Jam and riding a Lambretta Li125 with a group of mates; up and down the pit tips near my mum’s house in Nottinghamshire. What was your first scooter: My first scooter was a Vespa T5 that I bought off a copper in Exmouth. I rode it back to Torquay where I lived back then and blew the piston 10 miles from home. While it was being repaired the bloke that was mending it died, so it took me months to get it back but he had finished it and it went like a beast, cracking tribute to him. What is your favourite scooter model: Vespa Mk1 T5 but prices are getting silly for a good true model nowadays. What is your favourite style of custom scooter: I love all styles, each to their own I say. First rally or event: God it’s so long ago I can’t remember, ISCA Scooter Club went everywhere back in the day but Isle of Wight in the early 90s was one to remember. First massive rally for me with a fantastic group of lads. They never left anyone if you broke down. They were all there to help you to get you it sorted if they could; Steve Sharland and Shaun Pidgeon were legends. How did you get there: On my beloved T5, back then it went like a bullet. Any stories: LOL yes, being invited to a biker’s rally with the club. I was absolutely shattered so after many beers and a late night I fell asleep next to a camp fire. The lads thought it would be a great idea to put mustard all over my face, it’s safe to say my face was on bloody fire all night and all the following day. Favourite and worst rally/event: Bridlington 2013 with Mansfield Detours Scooter Club. Best ever with Sean Pitchford (RIP mate, ride safe up there), it was a pleasure to ride with them back then. I’ve not got a worst to be fair. I’ve enjoyed every one I’ve done. What’s the furthest you’ve ever ridden on a scooter: Isle of Wight this year, it’s about 250 miles each way from Mansfield or could be Weston-super-Mare. I previously did that on my Vespa PX200, now that was a journey, two-up with luggage. What do you like about rallies/events: I love the ride to a rally, great fun if it’s a journey with a bunch of good friends. The people, some great characters at rallies. Good music, there’s always something good to see or listen to. What’s your favourite Scootering feature: I like everything about the magazine to be fair, I have since I first started buying it in 1990. Your favourite custom scooter of all time: The Paul Weller themed scooters that were featured with him in Scootering magazine way back. I even tried to buy the Stanley Road Lambretta but it was on eBay with bidding at 10k plus, it was well out of my league!
