SCOOTER DETAILS
Name of scooter & reason: Witches Brew after Burnley and Pendle Scooter Club. What other themes did you consider before coming to this choice of theme for the scooter and why did you go with your chosen theme: None, it was always going to be a 70s club Vespa theme. Scooter model: Vespa Rally 180. Date purchased & cost: End of 2017. Inspiration for project and theme: My husband, Lee was born and raised near Pendle Hill and remembers the Burnley & Pendle Club as a youngster. Time to build & by who: Sourcing, strip, and planning took approximately four months. The build after paint was four manic days, which manged to complete just in time for Bridlington 2018. Any specialised parts: Original Rally ‘flip-flop’ backrest. Mudguard bumper made to original SS spec by ‘Arfa Francis’ – aka Ian Wilkins. Rear original Vigano big tube Florida bars and back rack from ‘Arfa Francis’. Burnley and Pendle SC rear shield and mud flap by my husband, Lee. Engine spec: P200 engine fitted as she will be a ridden custom (180 engine saved). Kit: Malossi 210. Crank: Standard 200. Carb: Reamed out SI carb 25mm. Exhaust: SIP road 2. Clutch: Cosa. Gearbox: T5 fourth Porting work by: Matched ports. Dyno done by: Coastal Trippers. Describe engine performance, power delivery and scooter handling: Superb performance and pulls like a train. Rides and handles a dream, SIP damper stops front dive out. Top speed & cruising speed: Comfortable at 60mph. Is the scooter reliable: It’s a Vespa, so it’s bomb-proof! Paintwork & murals done by: Panel straightening and welding up on pin hole plus fantastic airbrush and paint all done by Gary Cooper at MD Machine (with our direction/brief). Is there any powder coating: Forks and wheel hubs by CJ Ward Powder Coating, Burton. Is there any chrome: All accessories re-chromed by Arfa Francis. Overall cost: No as much as you would think, rare accessories are hard to find. Do you have any advice or tech tips for anyone starting a project: Dry build and double checking all the parts fit. Is there anything still to add to the scoot: Miles to each Vespa based rallies and custom shows.
