Name: Robert Bush (Bob) Scooter club & town: Blue & Gold SC, King’s Lynn. How and when did you first become interested in scooters: When I was 16 (a long while ago) then had a break from scooters due to work and family commitments, got back into it about 16 or 17 years ago. What was your first scooter: Li 150 blue and white. What is your favourite style of custom scooter: Street racer and murals. First rally or event: Yarmouth in 80s. How did you get there: On my blue and white LI. Any stories: About 10 years ago coming home from Yarmouth in the snow. There was loads of snow on the ground and it was still coming down fast. I could only see about a feet in front of me! I had a few scary moments and was so relieved to get home. I was so cold that my wife had to take my bike gear off me because I couldn’t move! Favourite event: WOT and Mersea Island. Funniest experience with a scooter: Pulling into my driveway and as soon as I got off the exhaust fell off, and freewheeling into my driveway as ran out of petrol just before reaching home. What’s the furthest you’ve ever ridden on a scooter: France and Kelso. What do you like about rallies/events: I love riding to a rally, still get that Buzz, meeting up with people haven’t seen for ages, the camaraderie, obviously the beer on a Friday night. Then the ride home, practically the whole thing. What do you dislike about rallies/events: Not always adequate toilet facilities and limited food choice.

Favourite Scootering magazine feature: Seeing/reading about a scooter I’ve not seen before. Favourite custom/featured scooter of all time: Robbie Johnson’s ‘Menace’. If you had to recommend one scooter part or item of riding kit what would it be: Front and rear disc brakes, but obviously always wear protective clothing and not shorts and T shirt. I can say this from experience because when my crank went on the way home from Skegness I skidded down the road. My protective trousers were worn down to the layer next to my butt, it went through six layers and I just got a bruised bum. What’s the most useless part you’ve ever bought for one of your scooters: Several parts off eBay, they don’t fit without altering stuff!
