Scootering

SCOOTER DETAILS

-

Name of scooter & reason: Teenage kicks. As most of my youth was spent riding a P2 everywhere around the UK, and I love the song by The Undertones Scooter model: MK1 p200e 1978 Date purchased & cost: Paid £1100 in 2011 Inspiration for project: 1980s Armandos and the ‘ 80s scene Built by: Myself, with help from some good mates Engine spec: Engine built by: Alan Terry at Diablo Moto. Barrel and piston: Pinasco 225 Case: Mk 1 p200e. Flywheel: Pinasco Exhaust: Pinasco Clutch: Old school p2 with 4 plates and heavy-duty springs. Modified basket Gearbox: P2 with t5 4th. Carb: 26 mm Pinasco fast flow with vrx vortex and large air box top Porting: Slight on the inlet Crank: 60 mil Pinasco race crank Describe engine performance, power delivery and scooter handling: Not revvy, very smooth. Handles well front end, bit hard due to anti dive, top speed 70/75 mph. It would do more if i change the exhaust, but i think it would spoil the look. Anyway, if i want to go quicker i will get a motorbike Are there any other unique details we have missed: All original 1980s parts. Faco anti dive, Grimica semi hydraulic front disc brake, Utah dog leg levers, vespspolier with lights, mk2 Bradford back rest, turbo flywheel cowling, Utah rear brake light and bumper, Nelson Piquet seat, folding kick start, Utah indicator and rear light grills, moto handle bar guards, T5 mudguard. Plus modern stuff like SIP speedo, FA Italia tubeless rims, metal driver screen with original mirrors, wedges and rubbers. Did have a genuine driver, but as always it cracked and was repaired twice, so opted for the metal one. Sebac style shocks. Lots of powder coating, including the engine casings What was the hardest part of the project: Building it. Many a time I walked away, to restart another day Is there anything still to add to the scoot: Going to have some graphics added to both panels. Got some Pinasco casings, as the sealing pad is worn on the P2 casings. It does not affect the running, but it uses a lot more fuel, so everything will be transferred from these casings to the Pinasco ones Is there anyone you wish to thank: Daz at airfx, Alan Terry, Stuart Gentry SG Engineering, Jarv at lambretta rehab, Danny D, and help from Chris at CS, Keith and anyone else who helped me with the build.
