Name: Kevin Williams Job: HGV Class 1 Driver Scooter club & town: Lincolnshire Crusaders S.C. (Grimsby) First interest in scooters: In the late 70s and then in 1980 I came home from the Army on leave and a pal of mine had a PK50. I had a ride on it. After that I was hooked and I bought an SS180 for £50! First scooter: SS180 Favourite scooter model: PX200 Favourite style of custom scooter: Paint work, murals and attention to detail on custom scooters First rally or event: Hastings 1980/1981 How did you get there: On my scooter, a Vespa 90 Favourite and worst rally/event: Worst: Morecambe. Favourites: Cleethorpes, Skegness and ‘Sidewinder’s S.C. Rally – Great Yarmouth Funniest experience with a scooter: In the early/ mid-80s when we went to the Isle of Sheppey, fifteen of us went to sleep under a trailer. We put the tarpaulin over us and slept there for the night. I don’t know why we did it. We just did Furthest you’ve ever ridden on a scooter: Tilbury, Essex, to Dunbar 1984 – Never again! What do you like about rallies/events: The atmosphere and the friendliness of most people. It’s one big, happy family What do you dislike about rallies/events: The rip-offs. Price increases because it’s a rally. Certain pubs in the towns nearby put an extra £1 on the pints and scooterists get ripped off Your favourite custom/featured scooter of all time: ‘A Way of Life’ – Vespa and ‘My Faithfull Friend’ – Vespa (I like the one’s which tell a personal story about the owner or a theme) If you had to recommend one scooter part or item of riding kit, what would it be: Good crash helmet What’s the most useless part you’ve ever bought for one of your scooters: A tiger skin mock fur seat cover
