Name of scooter & reason: ‘Tally Ho’ is my tribute to the pilots of World War Two that won the Battle of Britain. I feel strongly that these heroes should never be forgotten Scooter model: Lambretta Li 150 series 2 Date purchased and cost: First registered in 2005 Inspiratio­n for project: World War Two, Battle of Britain Time to build: Approximat­ely 1 year, built by myself, ‘Biggles’ with help from friends. The original engine build ran for ten years trouble-free by Gary Wells of Allstyles. Special features: John Madison (my official ‘armourer’), seat and helmet by Duncan Squires, decals by John Hitchcocks, airbrushin­g by Steve Mays and technical advice from Tony James/T.J. Scooters Any specialise­d parts or frame mods: Copy of the triple exhaust system, machine guns, leg shields with bomb sights and special bracket for front disc fitment by John Madison. Cockpit-style flyscreen and ammo box by yours truly... Biggles Engine spec: Kit: 185cc Imola Crank: AF Race. Carb: 30mm Dellorto Exhaust: Original Kegra Clutch: Normal 4 plate with uprated springs. Gearbox: Li series 2 Porting work by: (The late) Geoff Stephens. Dyno done by: Paul Jolliffe Describe engine performanc­e, power delivery and scooter handling: Power is approximat­ely 13.5bhp. Handling GAZ rear shock, disc front brake normal fork springs, Conti Twist Sport tyres on SIP rims. Handling generally good, although front end somewhat hard Top speed and cruising speed: Top speed, untested, but suspect around 75mph. Cruising speed 60-65mph Is the scooter reliable: Yes, absolutely Paintwork and murals done by: My son, Adam Bignell.
