The Vespa Club of Britain (VCB) year started tremendously, with the first signing on event for the attendance championship at Burton-upon-Trent. The ever-popular custom show saw more than 2000 people through the doors and nearly 200 VCB members signing on, which is fantastic.

Not only did we see a a good number of people signing on, but we also accepted around 25 new members, which was even more pleasing. We also had quite a large number of members renewing their membership for the next 12 months. So the whole event was a huge success from start to finish. The club just keeps going from strength to strength, thank you one and all for your continued support.

At the event, there was a stunning selection of both custom and classic scooters side by side, a good choice of dealers also attended, and to top it all off... the weather was amazing; what more could you ask for?

It was also great opportunity to catch up with a lot of familiar faces who popped over to the VCB stall to say hello; it’s always a pleasure to see members and have a chat with them. The stall is always present at all the signing-on events and is a really good place to congregate, join up, buy merchandise or just find out general information about the club. So don’t be shy, when you see the stall, come and say hello!

The other competition – The Riders Regional Competition (or RRC) – got off to a flying start on March 1. The first person to upload a picture was Dave Maddocks from Birmingham Cog 2 who, to our surprise, had completed his first landmark within just 12 hours of the competition starting. The RRC has seen the number of entrants steadily increase over the last couple of years, but this year it seems to have really taken off.

There are three extra regions this year, including the islands region. This gives participants a total of 1800 landmarks to visit between March and October.

Quite a few members are attending Vespa World Days in Hungary, and our main event – British Vespa Days in Llangollen – is already sold out.

A few regions have now started putting on regular meetings or ride outs, which is great for people who can’t travel far because of work or family commitments. The club tries its very best to cater for all of its members in every way it can.

The VCB is a club for Vespa enthusiasts of all ages. Membership is £16 a year for individual membership and £26 for family membership (two adults and three children up to 18 years old).
