SCOOTER SPECIFICATIONS
Na me of scooter & reason:
Th e name is: Highlander Resurrection because it is a resurrection of the old custom scooter Highlander from the 1990s. It was the first custom scooter I saw when I was 16 years old. The scooter was on the Venlo Scooter Rally and I was very impressed by the scooter. So my love for the custom scooter was born. Sc ooter model: Vespa PX.
Ti me to build & by who: From December of 2012 until summer of 2020. Most things I built by myself, but for some special parts I got a lot of help from my friends.
An y specialised parts: The foot brake was changed to a new one – designed by myself and a friend for the hydraulic rear disc brake. I added a spoiler from a Yamaha RD under the running board (the original spoiler from the Highlander out of the ’90s). I created a complete new seat with glass fibre and filler with a lot of work to sand it. I made a new handlebar in a very deep drop version with some special fixing points for the hydraulic brake/clutch parts. Engine spec
Kit: 211 ccm Malossi MHR.
Crank: 60mm bell shaft from Mazzucchelli. Carb: Mikuni TMX 30mm.
Exhaust: FalkR – Elron (built by FalkR Exhaust Systems).
Clutch: LTH – Honda with BGM 22 pinions. Gearbox: PX Lusso with shorter 4. Gear from a T5.
Porting work by: Felix Baum.
Describe engine performance, power
delivery and scooter handling: The power of the engine makes it a lot of fun, but it is not so easy to bring the power under control on the road. But I have a lot of time to practise it.
Is the scooter reliable: I hope it is – but I think yes with the new parts and the good works. It works and works – the good old German school.
Paintwork & murals done by: Paintwork by the company Rotärmel GmbH from Aachen. Murals/airbrush by Marcus Pfeil Custom Painting from Ried im Imkreis – Austria.
Hardest part of the project: The waiting time for the airbrush work – it took three years and three months – it took some nerves! Do you have any advice or tech tips for
anyone starting a project: Look for reliable people for external works. You must do a sample building-up for all parts before painting – after the painting you couldn’t change anything. Work in peace – have no stress.
Is there anything still to add to the scoot: No
– it’s all done. Is there anyone you wish to thank: Oh yes – everyone who worked on the Highlander Resurrection project with me. A project of this size simply cannot be done on your own.
