Name: Karen Clark.

Job: Full-time mum.

Scooter club & town: Animals fae Naboombu/Galston chapter.

First interest in scooters: When I was 11, seeing local Mods running about on scooters. I fell in love with the cool look, the sound and the smell of two-stroke. First scooter: Vespa 125 Primavera, I was 16. Favourite scooter model: Lambretta S1, older the better. Favourite style of custom scooter: Bit of everything and anything really, especially when folk have put their heart, soul and imagination into it. First ever rally: Portpatrick, Lowlanders

SC.

How did you get there: Two-up on a Mk1 T5, with no back rack, the entire camping gear had to go on my back. Nothing beats the ‘determined to get to a rally’ workout!

Favourite rally: Kelso, great run down, beautiful place, weather is always good… the silent disco is a laugh. Always with great company.

Least favourite rally: Berwick, only because of crosswinds trying to get there, cold wind even though the sun is shining. Good wee rally itself though. Funniest experience involving scooters:

Going to Portpatrick, the GTS had problems a few miles from home. Returned to take the T5 with no back rack. Had Steven trying to squeeze four litres of vodka ‘n’ lemonade into the bag with the camping gear that I was carrying on my back. En route we had a back wheel blow out on a steep hill. No pump for spare wheel, getting told to get my t*ts out to see if a passing motorist with a pump would stop. We got there eventually... good as pissed within an hour... memories. What do you like about rallies: Rally fever! The anticipation, packing your gear... the ride there. Love the music, the atmosphere, the laughs, making new friendships. The scooters. Favourite Scootering magazine feature:

The mag in its entirety. Been buying it since I was 13. Love the quality pics and getting new ideas from great features and write-ups. (Best answer ever – Dan, editor). Favourite custom scooter of all time: Air

Cooled Junkie... got to say that. Your most recommended scooter security item: Steering lock, big padlock and chain. Doberman. Which insurer do you recommend: I always compare, loyalty gets you little these days. Churchill is quite good. Which breakdown company do you recommend: AA – Alcoholic Anonymous.

What would make the scene better: Bring back 2020 rally season! What would make our beloved scooters better: Fewer EU regs. Louder horns... duck farts just don’t cut it! Favourite scooter dealer: Andy Francis, Ron Daley, Glasgow Lambretta, Bikes on Parade. All styles, on small wheels.
