Stone Foundation – The Light In Us/Freedom Starts 100% (Vinyl Single)

-

Stone Foundation were scheduled to play a series of tour dates in spring 2020 but like everyone else they’ve had to reschedule things. Their tour now (hopefully) runs from October this year until December. Already several dates have sold out. There’s a brand new studio album scheduled for release in September, although that is not yet set in concrete; the title of their new record hasn’t, as yet, had its title revealed. In the interim Stone Foundation are remaining in contact with their ever-growing number of fans worldwide, by broadcasting unseen footage from shows on their last tour online, along with a ‘live’ merchandise tour. As well as this, Stone Foundation have released a brand new single (limited edition on vinyl 45 format). Both sides feature a high-profile guest artist. The official A side, The Light In Us, has Acid Jazz artist Laville on lead vocals, over an uplifting classic soul-sounding number laden with feel-good grooves and vibes throughout. While very much a Stone Foundation original song, it tips its hat in the direction of George ‘Bad’ Benson during his On Broadway/Give Me the Night era. First taster from the officially, as yet, untitled new album is the single’s B side, Freedom Starts, which has former drummer with The Style Council and long-time Paul Weller collaborator Steve White guesting on drums. It’s got soul and funk in abundance, with an element of jazzy undertones too. Conceivably this track is strong enough to have been an A-side in its own right, an enticing morsel whetting the appetite in anticipation of the new long-player. In the interim, another single, Changes, is set for release in the next few months, which can be pre-ordered from the band’s website.
