OWNER DETAILS

-

Name: Ian Jones.

Job: Taxi driver.

Scooter club & town: NWBA and Lambretta Club Wales.

First interest in scooters: I was a late starter, so it would have been in the mid to late 80s.

First scooter: PX200E, took the badges off and put L-plates on it and never got rolled either!

Favourite scooter model: Lambretta

GP200.

Favourite style of custom scooter: Street racers.

First ever rally: Colwyn Bay '85 or '86. How did you get there: Myself and a good friend, Andy Morgan. We thumbed it there on the Saturday morning!

Any funny stories: Quite a few, but the main one that comes to mind is Aberaeron. It was very windy and a mate had a pop-up tent, which ended up getting blown into another field with him running after it. Very Benny Hill!!! Favourite rally: I love all rallies and two are my favourites. Aberaeron for the ride and the many laughs I had with great friends and Bomal 2018 Belgium. It was my first ever European rally and I had an amazing time with the people I rode with.

Least favourite rally: None. They are what you make them.

Funniest experience involving scooters: Watching my mate getting chased up the road by a horse; you had to be there! Furthest you’ve ever ridden on a scooter: I've never checked the mileage but it's either Isle of Wight, Kelso or Belgium. What do you like about rallies: Meeting up with good friends and always the ride there.

What do you dislike about rallies: The ride back (usually hung over!).

Favourite Scootering magazine feature: No particular favourite, just enjoy reading the magazine.

Favourite custom scooter of all time: Yian Baty's GP – Paul Smith.

Your most recommended scooter part or related item: A comfy seat!

Your most recommended scooter security item: Heavy chains and a quality padlock.

Which insurer do you recommend: Devitt. Which breakdown company do you recommend: AA Business cover.

What would make our beloved scooters better: More quality parts!

Favourite scooter dealer: Don't have a preference.
