Scootering

Welcome letter from the editor A warm welcome to the May edition of Scootering.

- Dan

All the signs and signals that we will emerge via the Government’s published stages from this lockdown are aligning and starting to click into place. I’m seeing an increasing number of social media posts, of people finally getting out and about on their scooters and meeting up in small ‘Covid-compliant’ numbers. Indeed, my own solo ‘test and development’ rides on the TargaTwin have now progressed to ‘butty runs’ out to various chip shops for lunch, and to meet up in a socially distanced manner with other scooterists. What a small step it may seem, one that we all previously took for granted, but I liken it to a bloke who used to frequently dine out and regularly complain that a particular restaurant didn’t have enough choice on the menu, but is subsequently starved of food and limited to one small meal a day. Send him back to the same restaurant after one year of that, and quite frankly he will be raving about every single morsel of grub put in front of him, starting with the breadsticks onwards! And by heck, haven’t we all been starved of our freedom, and our pleasures in life… so right about now, a run out to the chippy and a meet up with half a dozen pals feels DAMN good! Though I must say, despite being an incredibly ‘pint glass half full’ type of bloke, even I’m looking at the steps between now and June 21 and praying that the ‘light at the end of the tunnel’ isn’t just another bloody train coming the other way! Point being, this Covid shit has got even the most upbeat of us doubting it will ever end, but it will, it will… and as it does, we pray to the scooter gods for a summer of rideouts and rallies, in whatever fashion we are permitted to conduct them in. Bring it on.

Scooter starvation speculation aside, what another winner we have for you this month… so go ahead and dive into the glossy pages and immerse yourself at your leisure, it’s another belter this month… stay safe and enjoy the issue!
