Name of scooter: Black Betty. Scooter model: MMk1 crossover PX125EE, has locking panells and 20mm forks. But it’s a Mk1. Inspiratio­n for project: Stop the rot…and to stop the MoT inspector complainin­g aboutut the rust and holes...

Time to build & by who: Took it off the road in September 2020 and stripped it down. Fully completed by end of January 2021. Built by me. Engine spec Kit: Polini 221. Crank: Pinasco 62mm. Carb: BGM 24mm. Exhaust: BGM Big Bore Race. Clutch: Pinasco. Gearbox: Standard. Dyno & Porting work by: SG Engineerin­g. What brand of oil do you run: Castrol 3%. Chassis Spec: Tyres: Michelin. Suspension: YSS. Speedo: Standard and unrestored for originalit­y. Cable brand: BGM. Seat: Standard but new cover. Fuel tank & Tap: BGM fast flow. Brakes: Standard rear but the front has had a disc set-up fitted from an LML, prefer the full hub to the star type. Describe engine performanc­e and scooter handling: Handles really well, torque is amazing… great rally scooter. 22hp and 26ft-lb torque.

Any other details we have missed: Everything that was reused was stripped, cleaned and serviced if it needed it, or replaced… good to go for another 35 years. Complete set of brand new Siem indicators fitted…so bright. Halogen headlight fitted as it’s good to see where you are going.

Top speed & cruising speed: Cruises at 70mph easily and not had it flat out yet. Is the scooter reliable: Seems to be so far… but it is an Italian shopping bike. Paintwork by: Paul @ Roadrash Paintwork.

Overall cost of work and components: Engine £2100, rebuild parts £450, sand blasting, welding and spraying £1200.

Tech tip or advice for anyone starting a project: Dry build before painting to make sure it all fits.
