SCOOTER SPEC

-

SScooter model: Vespa Douglas 1919722 V90. 90 British registered from new with close to matching frame and engine numbers.

Time to build & by who: Incredibly quick full rebuild completed in four weeks by a local scooter specialist – Pogle. He's a great guy and I'd recommend his work to anyone in our area. He did the lot, welding, spraying and mechanical work.

Any specialised parts or mods (What & by whom): No – but sprayed in its original Vespa Blue 210. Kept as many original parts as possible, such as grips and some rubbers, engine casings etc.

ENGINE SPEC

Kit: DR.

Crank: Standard.

Carb: 19mm Dell'Orto. Exhaust: Leo Vincie Banana. Clutch: Standard.

Gearbox: Three speed.

Describe engine performance and scooter handling: Amazing all round 10 out of 10. Can even outperform my dad's Lambretta away from the lights and it pulls well, even in third gear.

Top speed & cruising speed: Still running in but able to keep up with everyone.

Is the scooter reliable: Yes, apart from me forgetting to turn the petrol on!

Build and paintg by: Pogle.

Tech tip or advice for anyone starting a project: Tip for anyone new to scooters, like myself, use the scooter first and get used to riding it before restoring it. If you can't do it yourself use someone you know and trust to do the work.

In hindsight, is there anything you would have done differently: Bought one sooner.

Thanks to: (Dealers, services, friends, etc). Thanks to my dad for introducing me to the scooter way of life, Bev from Milton Keynes for selling me her scooter, all the local scooterists for making me feel welcome and most of all Pogle for doing an outstanding job restoring my scooter.
