Rapide review
MT Rapide global full face helmet (white, green and red)
They say: Two outer shell sizes, glass fibre shell and high-impact absorption inner shell with multiple density EPS liner.
Stu says: When I first saw this helmet I was immediately attracted to it by its looks, style and protection ratings.
Slipping the Rapide on is easy and the chin strap is tightened by the classic double O-ring method. When fastened a comfortable padded strip sits between the fastening strap and your chin; internally there’s a washable liner, which is comfortable and non-irritating.
The helmet has a neat visorrelease button. When you’re stationary or need the visor up, a quick depression of the button immediately springs the visor open a short distance, which allows it to be fully opened with ease; and when you click the visor back down it securely stays down.
The visor is a Max Vision item, it’s made from anti-scratch polycarbonate and can also be easily changed to the fogresistant visor, which is included with the helmet.
If you’re on the road riding in warm weather, there’s a double vent system. It has two ventilation points, one on the chin guard and one on top of the helmet; and when they’re open they allow a smooth, regulated flow of air through the helmet.
Protection-wise the helmet achieves the ACU gold standard. Stu’s verdict: A smart, aerodynamic helmet with a Moto GP/F1 feel, which comes with good safety ratings and plenty of technology. It’s also comfortable to wear, reasonably priced and is available in several other colourways.
