It’s a monster!

-

To be honest when I was sent the information on this beast of a thing and saw the pictures, I wasn’t sure if it was an exhaust or something that I’d seen being played by the Grimethorpe Colliery Brass Band when they defiantly accompanied the defeated miners as they proudly marched back to work after 12 months of sacrifice and struggle!?

But exhaust design, especially producing a performance exhaust that works well, is a dark art. This skill set has come on in leaps and bounds, with the technical ability to be able to create all kinds of weird-shaped pipes. The number of good exhausts out there now is plentiful – especially in the last few years with big hp engines requiring something to efficiently get rid of the combusted gas – a far cry from trying to make an aftermarket exhaust with a strange name fit a Vespa 50, with the end result being that it sounded as though you were going faster.

So, now we have arrived at this, the product from an engineer’s mind, produced in a dark satanic mill somewhere, with the relentless quest to squeeze just a little more power from a Vespa engine. It surely is a crazy looking thing, but does look a quality bit of German-made kit and according to the specifications that came with the images, it does the business as well.

LET ME INTRODUCE YOU TO ‘NESSI’

The Touring Race Exhaust from Posch Performance, told in the company’s own words: CHARACTERISTICS

The Nessi is designed as a sporty touring exhaust with full everyday usability. The character of the exhaust is designed for very good drivability and offers a rich, honest torque over a very nice range. A very good pre-resonance response, as well as a nice twostroke kick at around 5000rpm, offering driving pleasure and confidence on the road.

RPM AND HEAD ANGLE

■ Power peak: ca.7500U/min (depending on engine concept)

■ Recommended control angle cylinders:

■ Exhaust angle: 190°

■ Overflow angle: 132°-134°

■ Advance angle: 28° to 29° In practice, however, the Nessi also copes well with significantly smaller control angles, which can be in the range of 128° to 186°. QUALITY AND NOISE

Posch Performance exhaust systems are manufactured in Germany to a very high standard from 1.5mm sheet steel. The high wall thickness of the material used makes the Posch exhaust systems extremely solid and produces a muffled and rich sound, especially when combined with the recommended ‘Scooter & Service’ rear muffler.

Posch exhaust systems are delivered oiled; therefore, the exhaust should be treated with heat protection paint before the first ride.

SUITABILITY FOR DAILY USE

As one of the few exhaust systems in this performance class, the ‘Nessi Auspuff’ fits with wide tyres and main stand; for this purpose, it was elaborately laid in a snake shape whereby it also got its name.

VERSIONS

The exhaust system is available in two versions:

For Malossi cylinders Sport/MHR For Quattrini cylinders M232/ M244

CONCLUSION

Beautiful resonance exhaust system, made in Germany with high suitability for everyday use and outstanding all-round performance
