Super fresh and fruity. Bright. Melted Crayola wax dusted in lemon sherbet begins to dominate. Light with a subtle oiliness adding texture. Lemon infused soda water with additions of basil, caster sugar and red apples. Topped with mango marshmallo­ws and gummy bears. . Herbal, waxy, fruity, light, short. We all remember that time we decided to chew our crayons. Leaf mulch, caramel toffee pennies, apples dipped in milk chocolate. Then goat’s cheese with honey, treacle toffee. Orange sherbet sweets, vanilla pods and oak shavings. A little saline. Apples and custard, date and fig crackers with creamy brie, milk lattes, hazelnuts in hard caramel candy. Jalapeno peppers with cheese. Long with a nutty edge. The hot spices take time but hit eventually. It hits like Sriracha sauce then calms down. Lowland Speyside ===== ===== Specialist, On Trade, Worldwide GTR, Palate: Palate: Worldwide Finish: Finish: Comments: 8.5 7.7 Comments: Christophe­r Christophe­r Nose: Nose: Cut grass and floral on the top notes, with white grape and elderflowe­r. Reminiscen­t of a delicate sweet white wine that’s had some time in oak. There’s some dairy underneath – like a knob of butter thrown into a pan. Unbelievab­ly light on the palate, almost juice-like. There’s both canary and cantaloupe melon, well-watered down elderflowe­r cordial and vanilla icing. Very light, with vanilla. A gentle dram. Furniture polish, leather, fresh pipe tobacco, old cream sherry and candied red apple. There’s raisin, dark chocolate, clove and a little ginger. It sits lightly on the palate, but is intensely aromatic. A pleasant scrumpy cider-like acidity balances the sweet red apple and dark chocolate. Then sawdust and lily pollen. Medium-long and fading to raspberry and that sawdust note. No need for a woodpanell­ed lounge if you have this dram! There’s toffee penny sweetness, leather gloves and sherry soaked raisins. Spices emerge with cinnamon, cardamom and anise. Big and rich with honey and rose water soaked apricots, dry roasted cashew nuts and hints of fresh pastries with custard filling. Long and very warming, full of those exotic spices and sherry notes.. Delicious, like a hug when wrapped in a woollen blanket. Gentle then rich quite swiftly. Cream and vanilla pastries. Orange and lemon cordial. A malty chocolate hobnob note develops, caramel popcorn and then turmeric-laden hot chocolate. Liquid white chocolate with gentle peppery spices – think rocket salad with aged balsamic dressing. Coconut macaroons with powdered chocolate and icing sugar. Cocoa powder and coconut. Wonderfull­y chocolatey with just a gentle hint of smoke. Highlands Speyside ===== ===== Specialist, Specialist, Palate: Palate: Worldwide Worldwide Finish: Finish: Comments: 9.0 8.7 Comments: Christophe­r Christophe­r Nose: Nose: A well-polished old oak dresser. Dark chocolate sponge cake, with vanilla icing and maraschino cherries on top. There’s sweet rolling tobacco, but it’s subtle, and a sharp berry note buried in there – raspberrie­s. A medium-dry cider-like note hits first. Then lashings of hot chocolate and vanilla whipped cream. Grand Mariner, amaretto biscuit. Orange and a whiff amaretto. . That is some tasty juice, some well-executed blending here. Sweet peach and rose, it’s candied like Turkish delight and gummy worms or maybe Haribo Starmix. There’s vanilla, a little wood spice. A slight nuttiness too, like almond cake. Mackie’s Traditiona­l ice cream and that peach note is more subdued on the palate but definitely still there, accompanie­d by stewed Pink Lady apples and a little cinnamon. . Almond, rose.
