Geri the splice girl
At last, after two failed engagements, star ties knot (shame the groom’s parents stayed away)
SHE has been engaged twice before without reaching the altar.
Yesterday it was third time lucky as Geri Halliwell finally made it down the aisle.
Dressed in a white Phillipa Lepley lace gown, the former Spice Girl married F1 boss Christian Horner, 41, in a star-studded ceremony at a Bedfordshire church six months after they announced their engagement with a notice in The Times.
Despite the absence of the groom’s parents – who are said to disapprove – and most of her former bandmates, the 42-year-old singer said yesterday: ‘It has been an amazing day, filled with so much love, joy and laughter.’ Miss Halliwell was walked down the aisle by her nineyear- old daughter Bluebell Madonna and former Spice Girl Emma Bunton’s sons Beau, seven, and Tate, four.
The bride and groom were joined by friends including Amanda Holden, Dawn French and Jennifer Saunders.
But two notable absentees were Mr Horner’s parents Garry and Sara. They were said to have been devastated at their son’s romance with Miss Halliwell after he left his partner of 14 years just months after the birth of their first child.
Miss Bunton was the only ex-Spice Girl to attend, with Victoria Beckham and Mel C abroad. Mel B was also absent but wrote on Twitter: ‘Wishing you the most beautiful special day of your life, I love you XXX.’
Miss Halliwell arrived 20 minutes late at St Mary’s Church in Woburn in a Rolls-Royce Phantom. The newlyweds were later chauffeured to the reception in the grounds of Woburn Abbey by Australian F1 driver Daniel Ricciardo.
The star’s previous engagements were to US businessman Damian Warner, with whom she split after it was suggested she demanded a pre-nuptial agreement, and Italian tycoon Fabrizio Politi, who gave her a £150,000 diamond ring.
