He’s hard enough to lick Djokovic... but secretly Andy’s an ice cream softee

- By Maureen Sugden

HE is certainly experienced in giving a good ‘service.’

But after winning the Rogers Cup in Montreal, it’s unlikely Andy Murray is embarking on a new career serving up ice cream.

These images on Twitter left the Scots tennis ace’s fans wondering if they were seeing double when someone suspiciously like him appeared to be hard at work at a branch of Graeter’s ice cream in Cincinnati, Ohio.

But it turned out that the salesman with the wig, hat and glasses really was the 28-year-old star, enjoying a laugh.

He is in the area to play in the Cincinnati Masters, just days after ending an eight-match losing run against Novak Djokovic to win in Canada.

Twitter user Julie Boniface posted the pictures of Murray in disguise, and then

‘Larking about in disguise’

happily posing with her for a selfie as soon as his true identity was revealed.

She tweeted: ‘When @andy_murray is disguised and serves ice cream for you then takes off his wig to take a pic with you.’

A spokesman for Murray, who is expecting his first child with his wife Kim, said: ‘ Andy is in Cincinnati for the tournament and was just larking about in disguise to see if people could recognise him.’

Murray and Kim are now poised to enter the sponsorship super-league, with branding experts saying the addition of a baby to the Murray household in February would dramatically increase the tennis star’s marketability, allowing him to earn £30million a year in sponsorship deals alone – double his previous sponsorship income.

Murray’s mother Judy said on her Twitter page last night: ‘That ice cream seller’s disguise is not fooling me.’
