Fury curses as Klitschko calls it off

- By RIATH AL-SAMARRAI

TYSON FURY launched a foul-mouthed attack on Wladimir Klitschko yesterday after his world title challenge was postponed. The Ukrainian giant has suffered a calf injury in training just four weeks before his October 24 meeting with Fury (below), whose bad luck with big-fight setbacks includes two costly cancellations by David Haye. His response to the latest setback was to tweet the ‘Failure is not an option’ caption that Klitschko uses on social media, with the added comment: ‘Yer right Klitschko u bitch!’ Fury’s promoter, Mick Hennessy, last night told Sportsmail that a new date in late November is likely to be confirmed next week — again at the Esprit Arena in Dusseldorf. Fury, who dressed as Batman to confront the WBA, IBF and WBO world heavyweight champion at a press conference earlier this week, said yesterday: ‘I knew Klitschko wouldn’t fight. I knew he would pull out. I saw the same thing in him that I saw in David Haye. ‘My supporters and fans always lose out. I’m wounded for all these people and this happens too much in boxing. It’s not the fighters that pay, it’s the fans. We get our bits and pieces back — they don’t.’ But Fury’s uncle and trainer, Peter Fury, dismissed suggestions that Klitschko’s injury is not genuine. He said: ‘I spoke to the Klitschko camp and they have been very transparent. ‘I told Tyson, “This is no David Haye, Wladimir will fight you”. If he doesn’t fight he will have to vacate and that’s not what he wants for his legacy. We know this fight will happen.’
