The ruling class must know they will be killed if they do not allow a takeover by workers

-

JOHN ROSS, ECONOMIC ADVISER We will close you down, we will expose you, we’ll sit on your lawn, we’ll come into your offices, we’ll come to wherever you are to confront you.’

He called for civil disobedience, even if it is illegal, saying: ‘...if that means going out on the streets, if that means occupations that will then be declared illegal, if that means supporting workers who are occupying their factories in the public services that are being cut – we need to make very, very clear to tell them that we will be there.’

A year later, he told the ‘Unite the Resistance’ conference that elected Conservative MPs should be targeted because they are ‘social criminals’.

‘I want to be in a situation where no Tory MP, no Tory or MP, no Coalition minister can travel anywhere in the country or show their face anywhere in public without being challenged by direct action,’ he said.

And in an interview two years ago, Mr McDonnell targeted journalists.

He said: ‘I don’t think we should let the traditional media off the hook… These companies, those newspapers, those media sources that aren’t covering the stories – we’ve got to start targeting them and taking direct action against them.’

Last night Mr Grayling said: ‘ John McDonnell has very serious questions to answer.

‘Not only are his fiscal policies a threat to Britain’s economic security, but his history of encouraging violence and apparent willingness to break the law calls into question his suitability to be a senior member of Her Majesty’s Opposition. Labour must either explain why his history of encouraging violence is acceptable, or remove him from his role.’

Mr Corbyn yesterday defended his Shadow Chancellor, particularly over comments he made about Woollard.

He told BBC1’s Andrew Marr show that throwing a fire extinguisher ‘was a stupid and absolutely wrong thing to do’, but added: ‘I think the sentence he got was possibly disproportionate to the crime that he committed.’
