RYAN SENDS CELTS A SIGNAL

- MARK WILSON

THERE is only one little problem for Inverness Caley Thistle if Ryan Christie keeps playing like this. Celtic might just decide to recall him sooner rather than later. The Parkhead club have the option to do so in January, having loaned Christie back to the Highlanders following the £500,000 deal struck at the start of this month. And the 20-year-old would certainly have pleased his parent club with the quality of his display against their main Premiership rivals. Christie created Miles Storey’s opening goal in Saturday’s success over Aberdeen, before then netting a quite spectacular 30-yarder that proved the matchwinner. There was still time for a late dismissal, earned by two bookings for fouls on Graeme Shinnie, in an individual display that pretty much had the lot. ‘It’s brilliant having Ryan there,’ said fellow scorer Storey. ‘He even sets up half the goals I score in training. ‘He gets between defenders and midfielders and can thread little balls through. That’s why he got his move to a club like Celtic. It’s a brilliant move for him. ‘He’ll be a loss whenever he goes. ‘He’s a fans’ favourite here and it will be hard to replace that kind of technical player who can find those little gaps. You know he’ll find you. He’s not greedy, as soon as he pulled away he was looking to pick me out. ‘The second time I made a run he stuck it in the top corner from 30 yards, so I had no complaints! ‘I was disappointed for him getting sent off at the end. ‘He took one for the team. If he hadn’t, then maybe they could have scored. Fair play to him.’ Storey now has three goals in four games since joining on loan from Swindon, with Inverness unbeaten in five despite continuing injury problems. ‘Everyone is playing for each other,’ he said. ‘It’s a great bunch of lads. Maybe at the start of the season we were playing well but not getting the points. ‘Hopefully the points are starting to come now and we can keep going.’
