Glastonbury tickets sell out in just half an hour
TICKETS for the 2016 Glastonbury festival sold out in just half an hour yesterday.
Though speedy, this was five minutes slower than last year’s all-time record – when all 120,000 tickets sold out in 25 minutes.
This year, ticket-vending website See Tickets started crashing after 15 minutes of sales, with reports on social media saying music fans were finding it easier to purchase passes using 4G i nternet on mobile phones, rather than using wireless internet connections.
Ticket prices for the festival, which takes place annually at Worthy Farm in Pilton, Somerset, have increased to £228, plus a £5 booking fee, with children aged 12 and under getting in for free.
For those who have missed out, there will be a final chance to get passes for the event, which will take place from June 22 to June 26, when unwanted tickets are put up for re-sale in April.
Tickets cannot be passed on to touts as each pass is registered to its purchaser with a unique identity code and a photograph ID.
Organiser Michael Eavis has said the headline acts for the next two years are already booked – four acts who have already played its famous Pyramid Stage before, as well as two first-timers.
Although the 2016 line-up hasn’t been announced yet, Coldplay are favourites to headline, with William Hill giving odds of 4-1.
