Becky killer’s threesomes

Witness weeps as she tells of sex sessions and says accused ‘hated’ teen stepsister

- By Ben Wilkinson

A WOMAN wept yesterday as she told jurors how she had threesomes with the couple accused of murdering Becky Watts.

Killer Nathan Matthews, 28, made a sex tape of one session with the woman and his girlfriend Shauna Hoare, 21, Bristol Crown Court heard.

The witness, now 22, told the court of the ‘hatred’ Matthews felt for his 16-year-old stepsister Becky.

She said: ‘He used words like “brat”. He genuinely disliked her.

‘Nathan said she treated his mum like crap and that she was spoilt and selfish. ‘Whenever her name was brought up he got quite agitated.’

When asked if Hoare felt the same about Becky, she said: ‘It was more of a dislike rather than a hatred.’

She took the stand to give evidence against Hoare – who also sobbed in the dock as her former close friend described the sex acts, and described Matthews’ controlling behaviour over his girlfriend.

The woman – who is not being named at the request of the court – said she had known Hoare for five years and became like a sister to her.

She said she had spent so much time with the couple that her ex-boyfriend joked they were ‘having threesomes’.

In fact, she did have consensual sex with the murder defendants on at least two occasions. She said: ‘I saw them almost on a daily basis. It started as a joke when I was with my partner because I spent a lot of time with them. He joked, saying, “You’re always there. Are you having a threesome?”. We would laugh it off because it was ridiculous.’

She told the court the threesomes began in 2014 after it ‘came up in conversation’ with Hoare and Matthews.

When asked whose idea it was, she answered: ‘I can’t remember.’ The witness said Matthews had seemed ‘embarrassed’ when he asked if he could film one sex session on a mobile phone.

Adam Vaitilingam, defending Matthews, asked the witness during cross examination if it happened ‘15 or 20 times’. She denied it was that much but agreed it could have been ‘ more than twice’. She also told how Matthews was aggressive to Hoare, was ‘ jealous and paranoid’ and did not like her talking to other men or going out without him.

He would prevent Hoare eating certain food and smoking, the court heard.

Matthews and Hoare are on trial accused of suffocating Becky in a sexdriven kidnap in February. They are also accused of dismembering her with a saw before her body parts were discovered in a garden shed 11 days after she disappeared from her Bristol home.

Matthews admits manslaughter and cutting up the body but denies murder and insists Hoare was not involved. Hoare denies all charges.

A member of Becky’s family left the court in tears as a forensic engineer explained how Becky’s body might have been dismembered using a circular saw. A saw similar to the one Matthews used was demonstrated in court so jurors could hear how loud it was.

Professor Sarah Hainsworth – who examined Becky’s bones and the tools allegedly used to dismember her – said the lack of ‘false- start cuts’ indicated the person who cut her up was either ‘careful’ – or two people were involved.

She also said it would be ‘easier’ to use the electric saw with two hands and someone else holding the limbs.

A forensic scientist also said she identified DNA matches to both Matthews and Hoare on a paper face mask discovered in a backpack found near Becky’s body. The trial continues.
