McIntyre: My weight’s up and down like a yo-yo

- Daily Mail Reporter

HE admitted he was shamed into slimming down after being branded overweight by an app.

But it appears Michael McIntyre’s embarrassment did not last long – the comedian has started to pile on the weight once more.

He has confessed to being a yo-yo dieter and in an interview expresses his frustration at his inability to tackle his weight – but then admits he finds it comforting to be back in bigger clothes.

‘I lost weight at the beginning of the year and now I am putting it back on,’ he said. ‘If you yo-yo, then I owe it to myself to put weight back on, having lost it.

‘I feel comfortable. I have all my old clothes so everything is used. You slim down for summer and get fat for winter, although magazines don’t encourage it. They don’t say “Chub up for Crimbo”.’

McIntyre, 39, who was named the world’s most successful stand-up comic after his 2012 Showtime tour grossed £21million, has revealed that his weight loss was due to being described as overweight on an app his son used.

He has two boys – Lucas, ten, and Oscar, eight – with wife Kitty, 39.

He has been pictured with celebrity personal trainer Matt Roberts but McIntyre told the Jonathan Ross Show – to be broadcast on ITV tomorrow – that he would cheat on his exercise regime.

‘I spent a lot of time distracting the trainer by chatting to him,’ he said. ‘You can cheat on the treadmill by standing on the sides.

‘I used to talk about really serious things with the trainer so he would stop.’
