Who’s who in sordid scandal that’s engulfing the Tory party
MARK CLARKE
So-called ‘Tatler Tory’ who was once tipped as a future minister by the society magazine in 2008. The 38-year-old married father of two failed to make the party election candidates list but was a key election aide in organising young supporters. He was part of the Road Trip election campaign.
ELLIOTT JOHNSON
The 21-year-old worked for campaign group Conservative Way Forward and was a member of youth wing Conservative Future. He was found dead on the tracks at Sandy railway station, Bedfordshire, on September 15. An inquest heard police are investigating claims he was bullied by Tory members and campaigners.
GRANT SHAPPS
Ex-Tory chairman sacked from Cabinet in May. Weeks before the election he was accused by Wikipedia of doctoring his own page to promote himself at the expense of a rival. Once used pseudonym Michael Green while running a business sideline.
ANDREW FELDMAN
Lord Feldman is Tory Party chairman, a key Conservative fundraiser and one of David Cameron’s oldest friends. They met at Brasenose College, Oxford, where they played tennis together. He lives in Notting Hill, west London, near the PM’s family home.
SAYEEDA WARSI
Failed to win a Commons seat in 2005 but was sent to the Lords by Mr Cameron in 2007. By 2010, she had been party chairman, making her the first Muslim woman in Cabinet. She lasted two years in the post before becoming a Foreign Office minister. She no longer has a ministerial post.
