PETER SCALES, Faringdon, Oxon I AGREE about the unregulated anti-social noise that motorbike owners are allowed to make (Letters). PAUL BRUCE, Newcastle upon Tyne.

WATCHING the dramatic Bob Geldof/Nigel Farage Thames showdown, who knew floating voters could be so passionate? VINCENT HEFTER, Richmond, Surrey.

IF THE retired prison officer can’t live on a pension of £723 a month (Letters), how is my retired mother expected to live on the basic state pension of less than £500 a month? MARK WRIGHT, Bolton.

ROD CRISP, Hunstanton, Norfolk. A BIG thank you to Asda for reducing the pack size of Pink Lady apples from six to four ‘to make it more convenient for me’. And also for keeping the £2 price the same as you obviously realise how confused I get about money.

D. R. WHEEDON, Nuneaton, Warks. IT WAS stated that the surface temperature of Uranus is minus 197c (On This Day column). Yours might, but though mine gets considerately cold in winter, it never reaches that figure.

J. HAGUE, Wakefield, W. Yorks.
